Akagera
National Park
The Akagera
National Park was established in 1934 by the Belgian colonial authorities. At
the time the the size of the park was around 2,500 qm.
After 1998,
the park was reduced by two-thirds to provide the population with more grazing
land for their cattle.
2010, the
entire park was fenced and the borders are checked daily by patrols. Through
educational programs, the neighbouring population is taught about the benefits
of the park.
For some
years, once again, animals that were extinct, are imported from other
countries, for example, Lions, giraffes, hyenas, etc.

Der Akagera National Park wurde 1934 von den
belgischen Kolonialbehörden gegründet. Zu der damaligen Zeit war der Park etwa
2.500 km2 groß.
Nach 1998 wurde der Park um zwei Drittel
verkleinert um der Bevölkerung mehr Weidefläche für ihre Rinder zu geben.
2010 wurde der gesamte Park eingezäunt und die
Grenzen werden täglich durch Patrouillen kontrolliert. Durch Bildungsprogramme
wird die angrenzende Bevölkerung über den Nutzen des Parks unterrichtet.
Seit einigen Jahren werden wieder Tiere, die
ausgerottet waren, aus anderen Ländern eingeführt, z.B. Löwen, Giraffen, Hyänen,
etc.

Nacional de Akagera fue establecida en 1934 por las autoridades coloniales
belgas. En su momento el parque tenía el tamaño de alrededor de 2.500 metros
cuadrados.
Después de 1998,
el parque se redujo en dos tercios para proporcionar a la población más tierras
de pasto para su ganado.
2010, todo el
parque estaba vallado y las fronteras son inspeccionados diariamente por las
patrullas. A través de programas educativos, la población vecina es informado acerca
de los beneficios del parque.
Desde hace
algunos años, una vez más, los animales que se habían extinguido, son
importados de otros países, por ejemplo, leones, jirafas, hienas, etc.
