Umuganda Day – Umuganda Tag – Umuganda Dia

On every last Saturday of the month the "Umuganda" day takes place.

"Umuganda" translates public community work.

On this day, the entire population should ensure order and cleanliness.  The population should also work together between the ethnic groups and draw attention to problems and shortcomings. On this day, streets are repaired, trees planted and public places cleaned.

After the joint work one meets and to discuss misunderstandings. By that problems or tensions can be detected early.

The president and government members also help with construction work. Like this they intent to make the population aware of the importance of the project.

On this Saturday, all shops are closed until 13 o'clock and driving is prohibited until 11 o'clock. The police are controlling the participation and in case of non-participation threatens a fine.

An jedem letzten Samstag im Monat findet der “Umuganda” Tag statt.

“Umuganda” heißt übersetzt öffentliche Gemeinschaftsarbeit.

Die gesamte Bevölkerung soll an diesem Tag für Ordnung und Sauberkeit sorgen. Die Bevölkerung soll auch volksgruppenübergreifend Zusammenarbeiten und auf Probleme und Mängel aufmerksam machen.

An diesem Tag werden Straßen ausgebessert, Bäume gepflanzt und an öffentlichen Orten gesäubert.

Nach der gemeinsamen Arbeit trifft man sich und bespricht Missstände. Dadurch sollen Probleme oder Spannungen frühzeitig erkannt werden.

Auch der Präsident und Regierungsmitglieder helfen bei Bauarbeiten mit. Damit soll der Bevölkerung die Wichtigkeit des Projektes hingewiesen werden.

An diesem Samstag sind alle Geschäfte bis 13ºº Uhr geschlossen und Autofahren ist bis 11ºº Uhr verboten. Die Polizei sorgt für die Einhaltung und bei nicht Beteiligung droht ein Bußgeld.

Cada último sábado del mes tiene lugar el día de "Umuganda". "Umuganda" quiere decil trabajo para comunidad pública.

Durante este día, toda la población debe poner orden y la limpieza. La población también debe trabajar en conjunto entre los grupos étnicos y llamar la atención sobre los problemas y deficiencias. Este día, se reparan las calles, se plantan árboles y se limpian los lugares públicos.

Después del trabajo conjunto uno se reúne y discute malentendidos. Así, se pueden detectar los problemas o tensiones a tiempo. El presidente y el gobierno también ayudan con los trabajos de construcción. De esta manera se pretende sensibilizar la población sobre la importancia del proyecto.

Este sábado, todas las tiendas están cerradas hasta las 13 horas y está prohibida conducir con el coche hasta las 11 horas. La policía está controlando la participación y en caso de no participación amenaza con una multa.

Volcanoes National Park - Vulkan Nationalpark - Volcano Nacional Parque

In the north-west of Rwanda is the volcano national park. In recent decades, he was repeatedly reduced to gain agricultural land. On the Rwandan side, the park has a size of 125 square kilometres. A few years ago, a massive stone wall was built to protect the park from invading shepherds.

Through the no longer active Virunga volcanoes, the national border between the Congo and Uganda runs. The volcanoes are up to 4507 m high and can be partly climbed

Climbing the volcano Visoke you can also visit the tomb of Dian Fossey. Dian Fossey was a recognized competence in the field of primatology. She lived for many years in Africa and led a relentless fight against the poaching of mountain gorillas. With her book "Gorillas in the Mist" she reached a large audience and aroused the interest of the mountain gorillas worldwide. In 1985, Dian Fossey was brutally murdered in her hut.

Im Nordwesten von Ruanda liegt der Vulkan National Park. In den letzten Jahrzehnten wurde er mehrmals verkleinert um landwirtschaftliche Anbauflächen zu gewinnen. Auf der ruandischen Seite hat der Park eine Größe von 125 qkm.  Vor ein paar Jahren wurde eine mächtige Steinmauer errichtet um den Park vor eindringenden Hirten zu schützen.

Durch die nicht mehr aktiven Virunga Vulkane verläuft die Staatsgrenze zwischen dem Kongo und Uganda. Die Vulkane sind bis zu 4507 m hoch und können zum Teil bestiegen werden. Bei der Besteigung des Visoke Vulkans kann man auch die Grabstätte von Dian Fossey besuchen.

En el noroeste de Ruanda es el Vulcano Nacional Parque. En las últimas décadas, fue reducido repetidamente para ganar tierras agrícolas. En el lado ruandés, el parque tiene un tamaño de 125 kilómetros cuadrados. Hace algunos años, un enorme muro de piedra fue construido para proteger el parque de pastores invasores.

Atreves de los volcanes no activos en el parque Virunga está la frontera entre el Congo y Uganda. Los volcanes son de hasta 4,507 m de altura y se pueden subir en parte.

Escalando el volcán Visoke también se puede visitar la tumba de Dian Fossey.

Dian Fossey era una reconocida competencia en el campo de la primatología. Vivió durante muchos años en África y llevo una lucha implacable contra la caza furtiva de los gorilas de montaña. Con su libro "Gorilas en la niebla" ella alcanzó una gran audiencia y despertó el interés en todo el mundo por los gorilas de montaña. En 1985, Dian Fossey fue brutalmente asesinado en su choza.
